At least 4 killed in gas explosion at residential building in SW Iran

TEHRAN, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed in a gas explosion at a residential building in Iran's southwestern province of Khuzestan on Saturday, the official news agency IRNA reported.

The incident was caused by a gas leak at the four-unit building that is located in the provincial capital Ahvaz, IRNA quoted Babak Rabiei, head of the city's fire department, as saying.

He added that firefighters and rescuers have been sent to the scene and are removing the debris carefully in search of other potentially trapped individuals. ■
